  1. Discussions for Industrial Policy of Punjab by CRRID Team and Industrialist of Ludhiana

    A team of Center for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh led by Professor Ranjit Singh Ghuman visited the CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana on 16.05.2017 to 17.05.2017. The team members interacted with the representatives of Chamber regarding the problems being faced by the various industries of Ludhiana which can be submitted in the final report for industrial policy to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab. The discussions were initiated by Mr. Satish Dhanda and Sh. S.S Bedi Retd Assistant Director MSME now Advisor to the Chamber.  The following things emerged from the interaction and discussion

    Government, Governance and industrial Policy, It was clearly highlighted by the various industrial units that the lack of comprehensive industrial policy in the State is a serious limitation in the way of industrial development. The Governance and trust deficiency is another serious drag on the development on the industries.

    The industrialist also highlighted that various department of the Government dealing with industry are creating hindrances rather than acting as facilitators and doing hand holding.

    The industrialist said that litigation pertaining to enhancement of Land/Plot is unnecessary consuming the time, energy and finances of the Industry. It should be restructuring of the One Time Settlement by the PSIEC once for all.

    The industry specially Micro & Small Units facing a serious limitation by taking loan from the Banks for upgrading the technology and expansion of the units.

    It was also raised a number of representatives specially Textiles and Ready Garments that they can enormous amount of employment for the Local Youth, if Government provide Industrial/Panchayti Land for creation of the Skilled  Training Centers. They have also requested for the cleaning of the Budha Nala Projects for the Human Cause and for healthy environment.

    The CRRID team also found that expansion and technology up gradation is normally not taking place because of aversion to change and lack of finances.

    The industrialist added that there is a lack of proactive role of the Government Machinery for the development of the Industry. The Government should plan a clear Road Map and its time bound Action Plan with the implementation schedule.
